Coaches’ Shooting Clinic
Our Coaches’ Shooting Clinic is designed to equip hockey coaches with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively teach shooting techniques to their players. This comprehensive program includes:
Off-Ice Instruction
In this session, Scott or Jesse will cover:
- Stick Mechanics: Understanding flex, lie, curve, stick length, knob size, and the importance of tape.
- Hand and Body Positioning: Proper hand placement, puck positioning on the blade, and body alignment.
- Shooting Techniques: Detailed breakdowns of various shots, including wrist shots, pull wrist shots, pull snap shots, backhands, and slap shots.
- Passing and Receiving: Emphasis on the critical skills of catching passes and accurate passing.
By mastering these fundamentals, coaches will be better prepared to instruct their players effectively.
On-Ice Application
During the on-ice session, participants will:
- Apply Off-Ice Concepts: Practice the techniques discussed in the off-ice instruction.
- Skill Development Drills: Engage in drills tailored to different skill levels, focusing on shooting and passing.
This hands-on experience ensures coaches can confidently teach and demonstrate these skills to their teams.
